Bio
Sue Arbuthnot has 25 years experience in documentary film. She owns Hare in the Gate Productions, LLC with partner Richard Wilhelm. Their new feature documentary, "Refuge" explores land conflicts in the American West the lens of the 2016 armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Harney County, Oregon. Their award-winning feature documentary, Dryland, screened in a dozen festivals and more than 60 community screenings, and is distributed by Dark Hollow Films. Sue's earlier award-winning feature doc, "Imagining Home," chronicles the complete transformation of a troubled and historic public housing neighborhood into a controversial mixed-income community. Sue and partner Richard Wilhelm directed the first Film2FarmAid festival in Chicago in 2015 in conjunction with Farm Aid's 30th anniversary concert. Sue is a former faculty member at the Northwest Film Center and former VP of the Women in Film Portland chapter.
