Justine Simonson Pro

Justine Simonson is a writer, producer and the founder of Co Lab Productions in New York City. Her documentary work has covered a wide range of topics including education, history, transportation, health care, and national security. Her work in branded content and reality television has taken her into niche worlds of beer appreciation, wig collection and apocalyptic survival.

Ms. Simonson’s recent work includes the documentary profile series #NoSweat for GQ.com, where she wrote the creative concepts and supervised the filming and editing of the seven episode series.

Prior to that she served as the Web Features Producer on Showtime’s Emmy Award winning documentary series on climate change,Years of Living Dangerously. In this position she oversaw the production of 47 short documentary pieces of original reporting to accompany the broadcast series on the web and across social media platforms.

From 2006 to 2010, Ms. Simonson worked as a staff producer and writer in the News and Current Affairs department at WNET, the flagship PBS station. Her work with PBS has appeared on Frontline, Exposé: America’s Investigative Reports, Bill Moyers Journal, Blueprint America and Need To Know, and garnered several awards including two Emmys, a Hugo and several Cine Golden Eagle Awards.

After leaving WNET, Ms. Simonson produced several hours of programming focusing on progressive academic strategies in elementary and middle school classrooms which stream on TeachingChannel.org.

In 2013, Ms. Simonson traveled across the United States, visiting seven cities in fourteen days aboard the Miller Time Internship bus with Miller Lite and Saatchi+Saatchi. This branded series appeared across social media multiple platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

Ms. Simonson is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.  She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Marcus Lehmann, and spends her spare time running and throwing ceramics.
