As an attorney, from 1965 to 1972, I specialized in the arts, representing music, dance, theatre and film organizations and individuals. I wrote for various publications on law and the arts. In 1972 I founded and became the Executive Director of the New York Jazz Museum in New York City. By 1975 I had raised enough money to purchase our own building in midtown Manhattan and eventually amassed an archive of over 25,000 items. We produced exhibits, film programs, posters and booklets as well as live music and a jazz puppet show for children. In 1977 a power struggle destroyed the Museum. From 1977 to 1987 I wrote and published a few books and newsletters. In 1988 I founded, published and edited a newspaper, entitled TREASURE CHEST that specialized in antiques and collectibles. It was sold in 1996. From 1988 to 1996 I published TREASURE CHEST, an antiques and collectibles newspaper. I sold it in 1996. In 1998 I wrote, produced and directed the acclaimed documentary film THE HOLLAND AVENUE BOYS: A SUCCESS STORY. It is about me and 10 of my friends. It has played on over 50 stations across the country. In 2004 I wrote a book entitled JAZZ EXPOSÉ: THE NEW YORK JAZZ MUSEUM AND THE POWER STRUGGLE THAT DESTROYED IT. In 2006 I wrote the book THE HOLLAND AVENUE BOYS: A Success Story, based on the above film. From 1996 I continued selling music memorabilia with a web site and monthly sales in New York City until July 2011. Currently I am working on a documentary film entitled THEY DIED BEFORE 40, about mostly unknown jazz musicians who died before reaching the age of 40.
