- Synopsis
"Topography, or the dreaming memory of land as it lay this way and that" is a feature documentary about the vast and the personal. Set primarily in National Parks across the US, the film spends time with people who have dedicated their lives to preserving, studying, caring for, or just simply living in, the parks. Through their external and internal landscapes, the film explores our relationship to nature - that which surrounds us and that which lies inside us. Woven throughout is documentary footage of the filmmakers capturing and recreating moments in their lives, in all its banality and grandeur.
Combining lyrical and observational documentary with virtual reality imagery from geographical and spatial data - it’s a film about the violence and love of co-existing, the land, belonging, memory, and our endless navigation with change.
