Project Themes: “I have always led a double life as a college professor and a belly dancer. As a professor at Hostos, CUNY, an urban college, I have met many students who also lead a double life. They have chosen to leave their countries to make a new future in a new place. But they retain a love and deep connection with their original homeland.

As an artist and a dancer, one must never stop learning or being a novice. I have studied and choreographed in many dance genres, including jazz, modern dance, ballet, salsa, tap, and historic dance forms. Being a novice helps me to teach, as I am genuinely sympathetic to the struggles of learning new ways of thinking and expression.”
