- Synopsis
The documentary parallels the lives of a Jewish composer in 1930s Berlin and the real-life subject of his opera, a 17th-century outcast woman. during the Nazi regime when a self-taught Jewish composer seeks in vain to have his opera performed, and the central character of his work, a young woman, fights for acceptance in the chauvinistic 1600s, also in vain. They both suffer unjust deaths but when the opera debuts in 2022 Germany, their fates unite and speak truth to bigotry, with great public acclaim.
