- Synopsis
On January 28th 2019, 22-year-old Malaysia Goodson was hauling her 1-year-old daughter Rhylee in a stroller down a flight of subway stairs in Midtown Manhattan. Like 75% of the subway stations in New York City, there were no elevators for Goodson to take. Malaysia died tumbling down the stairs. Rhylee survived. The shockwaves of this incident rippled across disabled communities in New York who vowed to bring justice to Goodson.
All Riders is a documentary short that thrusts its viewers on the frontlines of the disability rights movement in New York City. Following one of its leaders Sasha Blair Goldensohn, co-founder of the Elevator Action Group at Rise and Resist NY, we take a peek behind the curtain with those that expose and combat the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) repeated efforts to deny its disabled riders fair and equal access to public transportation.
