- Synopsis
This is a history of Kwajalein Atoll, a once-bleeding edge missile test range built to prove anti-missile technology designed to kill Soviet nuclear-armed ICBMs pointed toward American cities. 60 years later, the range has evolved dozens of times to meet constantly evolving strategic weapons threats and realpolitik orchestrated half a world away in America's capital. Throughout it all, a band of people, coming and going, have operated the missile range, forming themselves into a unique fraternity who find comfort with a slow pace of life punctuated by missile blasts, ICBM warhead impacts, hypersonic weapons tests and deep space radar operations.
