Synopsis

1946 is a revolutionary new film that chronicles how the misuse of a single word changed the course of modern history.

1946: THE MISTRANSLATION THAT SHIFTED CULTURE is a new documentary film that investigates how the word “homosexual” was incorrectly entered into the Bible, and the grave consequences its had on religion, culture, politics and the LGBTQIA+ community over the last century.

1946 is a feature documentary film that will tell the story of two intrepid researchers, Kathy Baldock, a conservative straight Christian LGBTQIA+ activist, and Ed Oxford, a conservative gay Christian graduate of Talbot seminary, who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement within the American conservative Christian church to an erroneous mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. What has been discovered along the way has the potential to profoundly change the language of inclusion within the Christian church and better the lives, not just of LGBTQIA+ Christians, but all who love and respect them.
