- Synopsis
Stand Down is an event started in 1988 in San Diego. It was founded by Veterans for Veterans. There is every possible service to help people who have undergone addiction, homelessness, PTSD, and trauma. It includes a secure environment, respect and understanding, food clothing, shelter plus legal, dental, optical, and other services including references to long term treatment options at Veterans Village of San Diego. It has been described as Maslow's hierarchy of needs in a Woodstock type environment due to the extensive music venue and convivial spirit. This Stand Down became a national model and over 300 stand downs take place nationally on a annual basis.
