Sri Lanka between the Hooks (Working title)

Sri Lanka Between the Hooks tells the story of a diverse group of kitesurfing enthusiasts who are
working to build a sustainable business in the small fishing village of Kuduwa, located on the western
peninsula of Kalpitiya. But in a country still recovering from a devastating twenty-five year history of
civil war, and authorities offering little support, the group must overcome ideological differences and
reestablish their sense of community if they are to realise their dream of rebuilding their village and
overcoming the battles of its past.
From beautiful scenes of unspoiled beaches to the daily lives of locals, the film explores the impact that
kitesurfing tourism has brought to this remote village. In just eight years, Kudawa has grown from a
small fishing village to a thriving kitesurfing hot spot, creating substantial businesses and employment
opportunities for large parts of the city. But how can these villagers ensure profits are used to build a
sustainable future that betters their lives and their village for many generations to come?
